First of all I completed a Learning Styles Quiz I found one
that I liked the look of as it was very comprehensive with 70 questions to fill
out and was also a great site as it had all the info of techniques etc for each
learning style and directed to further reading material after completing the
quiz and receiving your results. The website I used was https://www.learning-styles-online.com

Below is the Results from my test displayed in a graph that the website
generated. From the test it and seven different learning styles Visual
(spatial), Aural (auditory-musical), Verbal (linguistic), Physical (kinesthetic),
Logical (mathematical), Social (interpersonal) and Solitary (intrapersonal).
Out of these seven I had one with a higher score then two with a score equal but
just two points under the first one. These were in order Visual, Social and
Aural.
The first learning style I will talk about will be visual as this is the one
that came first for me. This learning style Involves the use of Images,
Pictures and Colours. I believe the test was accurate with this as I find
myself remembering and retaining information from presentations or videos much
more than written work or other types. The second type of learning style that
It gave me a high score for was Aural which is means that I like to work with
music or sounds. One of the techniques in this learning style is anchoring
where you can listen to certain music that you know brings emotion responses or
states such as concentration or happiness. The third learning style was social
this learning style means I prefer working in a group, class or one-on-one
teaching and I increase my learning by sharing my ideas and thoughts to a group
or class for review or feedback. Hopefully these learning styles and techniques
can improve my learning.

Reflective
My reflection to my learning experience so far would be mixed. With my learning experience in class I would say its lacking but when I’m present my learning experience is exceptional with the teaching style and in-class work being very well taught and relevant to the topic at hand. As for assignments and Personal work to do at home, my reflection is that I have been doing poorly as I have failed to hand a majority of my work in on time and feel that I am failing because of it I believe that poor time management and a few other factors have led to this outcome. I hope and plan to fix this with better time management strategies and life choices. Such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle such as diet and sleep patterns is a good start.
Time Management
My time management strategies are lacking this has been demonstrated across a majority of the work I’ve don’t this course. The only point that I can see when I do have good or better time management is when I’m working in a group project and people are relying on my work to be finished on time. The time management strategies I intend to apply to my future work Would be Lists, Planning, and allotment. Starting with lists I intend to apply this strategy but making lists of the work required and braking it down into far smaller tasks as to not overwhelm myself I believe this strategy would improve my time management as it makes the work look smaller and a much easier task. The second Strategy I have would be to plan I would implement this strategy by planning out what work to do together and how to split it up, so it doesn’t become repetitive. I believe this strategy would help my time management as I usually get bored of the work and move onto something else. I hope by doing this I can avoid this issue. For my third and final strategy is Allotment this is to take the broken-up work and a lot them time throughout my week so I’m not doing it all last minute as that’s what usually happens I hope by spreading out the workload becomes much lighter over all. In conclusion to my three-time management strategies I hope these will work well together and help me overcome my current poor time management skills and provide an improvement to my future work.
My Motivational Profile



The results the test gave me as seen above are accurate in my option and reflect my motives well. With it stating in the first part of the results stating that I have a strong drive for tasks but only if I deem them important myself, and very motivated if there is the incentive of a reward and will keep me motivated for difficult tasks. I believe this statement the test gave me are accurate and depict what I’m like in terms of everyday tasks, the reward part is true but probably in a different context to how they have it. AS I would view the reward more being that I would do a task with the possible reward of impressing or helping someone important to me such as parents, boss, etc.
The second part of the results again backs up the Reward part significantly with that score in the graph being way ahead of the other two motives Fun Seeking and Drive the explanation of this is the same as above for part one.
The third part of the test results is about Avoidance with my score being very high and the results telling me that my major motivation is to avoid things that I don’t like. Such as activities that cause me discomfort or pain it also goes on to say this can lead to me being a fairly nervous person, I would agree with these statements for the third part as I do regularly avoid or skip things that would provide me with discomfort or situations I would rather not be part of.
Overall this tests the accuracy of me is very close with the only thing I would probably change is the nervous part as that is untrue for most of my everyday life.
Emotional Intelligence
1. What emotions do you feel that are involved in your situation/s?
The emotions that I feel in my everyday situations would be Anxiety, Regret and Anticipation these come in many forms but these three emotions pretty much work in a wheel for me it starts with Anticipation of events to come then mores to the Anxiety of what could happen and then moves to Regret after the event has been and I have missed out of something.
2. What emotions are hindering your success?
The main Emotion hindering my success is Anxiety as this is stopping me from taking part in activities and such that would lead to my success
3. What emotions can you access to help you in this situation?
An emotion that would help me in this situation would be Trust. This is because I need someone to trust in to help me break the cycle otherwise, I keep going around in circles.
4. Describe a situation where emotions were involved, and you were unhappy/ embarrassed/ ashamed/ regretful with the outcome. What might have you done differently.
All those four emotions sum up my high school experience well. With me being unhappy most of the time and ashamed and embarrassed about the effort I was putting in. Along with how the school system was treating my issues. My situation in this would be whenever I arise an issue or the issue is found by the school system and how they deal with it. This always led to the first three emotions listed with the fourth coming afterwards with me regretting how I handled it.
5. What emotions do you need to work on and why?
The biggest emotion I need to work on is Anxiety as it’s the start of most of my problems and leads onto other emotions that do me no good.

Continue talking through these issues with a professional counsellor to help me understand the issues and come to terms with them.

My Favourite Sport/Activity/Hobby
I have a few Favourite hobbies and activities as listed below
My first hobby would be PC/Computer building. This is something I have been doing close to 5 years now I’ve made about 8 PC’s for myself over the years, and 4 Computers for others 3 of which were for profit. This hobby of mine has evolved over the years with the amount of skill I have in it and the knowledge and people I discover. My own PC Setup have evolved massively over the years mainly due to the amount of money I have had on hand or have been making it all started with watching YT videos and enjoying them, and then buying a $10 computer on Facebook all the way now to my setup worth probably close to 4 Grand this has all been made by trading my way up and completing projects and work for people online
My second hobby would be Game development Which with multiple teams over the years I have been a part in completing two games and have a third in the works planning for an early 2020 Release. This hobby has allowed me to learn a lot in both art design and coding as well as game engines as well of this it has also allowed me to meet many great people with extensive knowledge to pass on.
My Third hobby would be Server Management. This comes in many forms such as Game Servers, Web hosting and many more but the two listed are the main ones I do with game servers being something I did when I was younger and web hosting is what I do now. Back when I was younger the gamer servers, I hosted allowed me to meet many people and most of my online contacts these days go back to meeting them on some of those servers. The main reason I don’t continue to host game servers is the competition out there these days people and companies that have a lot more funds than I do back in the days I was the owner of one of the biggest NZ servers for one of the games I played with Twenty Thousand Different Players in total Using them. These days I mainly do Web hosting because it’s much easier to find work and there is not as much competition and cheap to do if you have the skills.
My Fourth and final hobby would be gaming this hobby has evolved the most over the years and has opened so many doors for me, and is very linked to all my other hobbies and allowed me to meet the most people, that has lead me onto all my other hobbies other than the first one.

This song for me represents what I feel I’m missing in my life and relates to the depression I had a year ago which was all related back to my insecurities about my height. The bullying, Loneliness and fell of no worth. This leads to where I want to be “A Giant” and be bigger than these things that have held me back in the past and to look down on those who have held me back. The main chorus of the some “I Am The Giant” is what I have always wished to be but after a while of listening closely to the song I realised the meaning of is not height but how you view yourself with everything and this has massively improved my outlook on life.

This song represents that I wish to do something with my life so that I can show my parents that I have done something with my life and have gotten over the hurdles that life throws at you. Life has thrown many hurdles at me mainly in the form of mental health but also a lot of Physical Health conditions that have made my youth and mainly teen years difficult for me, so this show shows that I would like to overcome these life challenges and show my parents and mother that I have “Made” something of my life and have succeeded.

This song represents what I was going through the past year and what was happening with my life as I was having dark thoughts at the time and always thought that the chorus “Don’t Give It Up” was referring to my “Life” and the lyrics “Don’t Even Try” was referring to don’t even try to take your life. and the song went on about waste away your youth which is what I was doing at the time throwing away the opportunities that were put right in front of me. This song showed me that I waste the only one going or have gone through this.
Barriers to Achieving your Learning Goals
Barrier One –
The first barrier for my goals that I foresee is procrastination this is because this has been a barrier for me in the past. How I plan to overcome this barrier is to study and complete my work in an area that is distraction-free as possible just as the library or extra time in the classroom. This for me removes the biggest distractions for me which are to open a game or join a friend in something this is all too easy for me to do when studying at home because it’s just a click away.
Barrier Two –
The second barrier I see that could hinder my goals is my work hours well my standard work hours (16 hours a week) is fine and manageable it is all too common for me to agree to cover peoples shifts or agree to come in last minute to cover sickness etc. How I plan to overcome this barrier is to make sure I review how many hours I’m doing before accepting more and considering what class workload I have at the time and what is Due in that said week, Another way of overcoming this is to be ahead of my work giving more time before the next due date allowing me to take on more work.
Barrier Three –
My third barrier that could hinder the progress of my goals is motivation this barrier is closely linked to my mental health and well-being. How I plan to overcome this is to make sure I ask for help or seek help before the weight of whatever is on my shoulders at the time get too much, I can get help of this by utilizing the services provided by Otago Polytech’s Student Health and the counselling services provided there, this can help me with my mental wellbeing and therefore my motivation for doing my work that’s needed.
Learning Goals
The first goal that I want to achieve is to have all my assigned work in on time for the entire semester. This goal will be achieved by being in class every lesson and spending extra time at Polytech and Home on each assignment to make sure it’s done on time. I will spend extra Time at Polytech on Thursdays and Fridays as a time to spend doing work distraction-free. My steps to reach this goal is to spend extra time at Polytech this extra time will be spent on working on assignments. I’m only adding two extra days that I will spend as extra time as any more will fill my week to much as I have work the entire weekend and doing this leaves me Monday to spend however I like. This Goal is very relevant to me as this was the main cause of me failing my last course that I had with Polytech. This goal should be completed by the end of the semester for the fact that all coursework needs to be submitted by then.
My second goal to have achieved by the end of the course is to have all my work done to a high standard and to the best of my ability. To achieve this, I will always reference my work back to the Marking Rubric to make sure I am doing the right thing and take notes in class about any key details on the assignment at hand. This goal links back to my first one a lot in terms of how to achieve it well, which is to spend more time doing the work so for this goal I’m doing the same as the first one which is to spend more time in doing work at poly after and before scheduled classes. This goal’s relentless is very similar to the first one in which it was what I wasn’t doing in my last course, I was just looking at what I needed to do and did it in my own word, thoughts of what it meant were I really should have been referencing the marking rubric. This goal is achievable by the end of the semester as that is when all coursework should be submitted by.
My third goal is to make sure I attend all classes I possibly can. This goal is important to me as without going to class I wouldn’t get any work done. My specific goal is to have at least a 90% attendance recorded by the end of the semester. This goal is achievable but making sure I get up on time every day and sticking to the bus schedule, the only reason that this goal would be unachievable if something major were to happen that keeps me from class.
This goal is very relevant as it’s the main reason I failed to complete my past course. This goal will be completed at the end of the semester when I can see the attendance ratings.
My fourth goal is to make sure I don’t fall behind in work this is important to me as I know if I let work pile up, I will struggle to catch up and said work will be done to a low standard. I will know if this goal has been failed if I do end up with work piling up, to stop this from happening I will accomplish this goal by stick to a schedule and having time for work to be done and were possible be ahead in the work due. This goal is relevant as work piling up will lead to me submitting lower quality work and therefore lower marks. This goal will end at the end of the semester and the success of it will be reflected by my overall mark for the course.
I went about setting these goals by looking at where I went wrong with my last course and what was needing to be changed.
